Boring Entry & Twizzlers

I decided to post later on in the day instead of my morning ritual. So yesterday afternoon I called my super and asked him why my radiator was like spraying water all over. He said that "is supposed to happen". I was like---um, no way dude. They are not supposed to spray water. Then he asked me if I always turn it on and off. And I said yes that I do turn it on and off a lot. he said that you have to make sure it's all the way off----so that "water doesn't build up." Anyway, I tried his technique and no leakage anymore. The super was right.

I went to bed early last night, like Rob Walker early. I was really tired cause I hadn't gotten much sleep the night before since Jess and I went to bed late. Also since my radiator was on full blast it was hot in the room last night. It was great. I feel very rested today.

For lunch I stuffed my face with a Turkey sandwich. It was delicious.

At work today I learned something new. It's not professional to say "yeah" under any circumstances on the phone. It's not the impression we are trying to give. So---I can't say "yeah" anymore. Oh, I also do everything wrong. I love my job. :)

Ok, I'm eating a twizzler now and it too, is amazingly delicious. Have a great evening everyone!

Lauren

Radiator and Friends

Good morning everyone!

I hope all had a wonderful weekend. As you saw from yesterday's post, I did have a nice relaxing weekend. Except for when someone in my comments section wrote that I was a "fool". I don't appreciate that comment and especially don't if I don't know who you are. So----show yourself!

Last night I got organized and finally filed all my crap that had been sitting on top of my table and file cabinet for months now. I also caught up with my correspondence. :) Jessica spent the night last night and we just hung out and watched my favorite DVD pastime: watching Friends' episodes. Then we went to bed way too late.

So, other than the fact that my freezer is broken (which is totally annoying by the way) and i'm too lazy to call the landlord for him to come and fix it----something is wrong with the radiator in my bedroom. When I turn it on it starts to spray really hot water mist all around the floor. It is so annoying. Plus, it makes this horrible hissing sound so I can't sleep. I really need to take care of that. Also---I tried to put a towel around it so I could at least get heat and stuff, but the leak as gotten sort of bad and the towel was soaking wet in like 30 minutes. Nice.

This entry isn't funny, witty or interesting and I apologize. I hope that later on today something interesting will happen so I can write about my exciting life. Well nothing exciting has happened at all, except more starving than before.

Butterflies and the Universe

Well---this weekend was great! I spent the majority of it with my mom, who arrived late Friday night in the frigid weather. Yesterday morning we woke up and ran and got bagels from H&H. Ate a leisurely breakfast and then I went to go take a shower to get ready to go-----I noticed that the water was again not getting hot. Again? I was like---hell no! I was very mad that for the second day this week I had no hot water! Uh...but it was true.

So I washed my hair in the sink with cold water cause it was really greasy and needed to be washed. I angrily called 311 and complained about my building's lack of heat. So my mom and I set off to walk across town to the Natural History Museum. She really wanted to see the planetarium show that I'd been raving about since I saw it when Beth's mom was in town about a month ago. So we bought tickets to that and also to the Butterfly exhibit. It was so cool, there were all these gorgeous butterlies fluttering about in this greenhouse thing. They are so amazing. Almost like ethereal and not even animals. We also watched this IMAX movie about the Galapagos, which was super cool too. We walked back through CP and then came home to finally take a breather. We went to go see the movie "Eight Below" you know? The one with Paul Walker and those snow dogs? I knew my mom would like it since it was about animals. It was cute a good family movie. Then afterwards we ordered take out from this Turkish place and stuffed ourselves silly. It was delicious and I'm boosted cause now I have left overs and can eat it today and also for lunch tomorrow probably. Nice.

***So my coffee maker is a bust! My dad bought it for me for christmas. It's one of those "pod" makers where you buy pods of coffee grounds and then makes individual cups. So---the brand of pods that my dad gave me with the maker tasted like ass. read: ass. Then I told my mom about it and then we went and bought new pods. We made coffee with those new ones. Still tasted like ass. Then we finally read the manual where it describes that the machine only works with like two specific brands of "pods". We went beack and bought the right kind. Made a cup using two of the flipping things and the coffee was still weak and horrible. I told my mom she has to go back home and tell my dad how nasty the coffee is. ***

This morning we woke up at around 9:30 and lounged around. We made breakfast and hung out leisurely and then took a walk for about 45 minutes. My mom loves just walking around and it was nice and bright out. I didn't bring my scarf though and I was really cold at certain points. It was pretty laid back this morning. So---she went home early this afternoon and I have been lounding around ever since.

***Coffee pod update. Apparently now the coffee tastes good when you use the real kind. I think my mom was delusional when drinking it last night. So---it's not a bust, but instead a good single cup coffee maker that I can now use.***

I took a nap and and watched some movies, I'm just now deciding what I should do with the rest of my evening. Please any thoughts? I need to call Britt back. Have a good night everyone! I'll write more tomorrow!

Love,
Lauren

P.S I have hot water again.

Dream and List

So I had the weirdest dream last night. Erin and Alexi and I, and Erin's mom were in charge of the decorations and cookies for this party. It was weird. They had made sugar cookies and were decorating them with sprinkles and everything. Then we all had to go into this auditorium for a presentation or someething, but in the "auditorium" looked like a kitchen. Whatever. So I went in and I saw this guy wearing a fishing hat. I was like, "Hey, that looks like Dave, my ex-boyfriend." But then I was like, no way. So I went over to him, (which is something I wouldn't do in real life) and was like, "what's up?" But then instead of him looking like Dave he looked like a grown up HOT Billy Madert. So random. Then, everyone started staring at us and whispering like, "oh, are they going to talk?" Add so we left and went to this area with lots of backpacks filled with candy and sat down at a table. We made small talk---the more we talked the more he looked like Paul Walker. Which was fine by me. Then I finally asked him, "so why did you dump me?" and then he got all weird and like didn't say anything. I think that I woke up at this point.

Thank goodness I had a somewhat interesting dream b/c not much happened exciting to me. If you can even believe that. I'm sure all of you have this image that my life is so exciting and wonderful, filled with days sans hot water and pink eye stories. Hate to break it to ya but...I lead a pretty normal life. Sigh...

Ok, so---thanks to all of you that are leaving comments. Oh, and specific thanks to Robbie for the kind non-alcoholic words :)

You know how Cosmo and Glamour have those like "things you MUST have this season" pages? Well, I'm going to make my own:

Things Lauren things you should own:
1. a desk heater (only if you have a desk, if not, it would be very stupid to buy)
2. a candle snuff (way cooler then blowing out candles)
3. candles ( to use the candle snuff on)
4. lots of pens (it's important to have something to write with)
5. foil (i mean, there are so many reasons why...)
6. one of those little dishes to put things in...a "catch-all" if you will (cause you know...)
7. a cell phone
8. some sort of foreign currency collectable (it makes you cool)
9. candy
10. nail polish remover (it gets out ANYTHING)

Obviously this isn't one of my best posts. Feel free to add things you think are necessary to own. I'd love to hear everyone's ideas.

TGIF!!!

CNBC and Denim Doctor

Yesterday was rough. I did not have a good day at all. I was literally counting down the minutes until I could leave. I hate days like that----hmmm.....but every day is like that for me.
So after work, I called Jess Pov. cause I knew she would be up for something, like drinks. So I walked down to meet her and we ended up at this bar called "Bar 515" they were having some specials, namely $4 Margaritas that came in like eight different flavors. We were so up on that!

I was supposed to see Katie last night but I was so tired, emotionally and physically, that I went to bed at 9:30 like a loser. I woke up a few times in the night, but I slept pretty well. Katie, we'll get together soon about the thing ok?

One thing that totally annoys me is that on CNBC, they don't talk about the Olympics really in terms of sports, etc. Instead they are all like, "what businesses are flourishing in Torino?" It is stupid and annoying. I just want to see replay's of Bode and Chad. Whatever. It must suck to be a reporter during something cool like the Olympics and then have to report on like how the local businesses are being affected. Boresville.

In case you all were wondering, I have hot water. The bastards must have fixed it when I was at work yesterday. I'm not complaining though. It was so nice this morning. Plus, I turned on the radiator full blast despite the water spraying problem. I just put a towel down to catch it. Again, an all-around good move on my part.

Oh, I wanted to mention something else----so my favorite pair of jeans has a HUGE hole in the crotch. Many of you know this already. My lovely mom decided to iron on a patch to cover it up. There were a few problems with that idea. The first was that the patch was navy blue and in my crotch area and therefore it looked like I had peed my pants. The second was that it didn't stay on and I ended up ripping it off after two weeks or so. Anyway----after I ripped it off the hole kept getting bigger and bigger. I went to LA and the hole was gi-normous. My cool cousin Amos was like---"dude, take them to the Denim Doctor." So, I asked him who that was. Then we went on the website and it's this dude in LA who like can fix anyone's jeans. Amos was all gung ho about me taking them when I was there, but I didn't want to waste valuable time in LA at some "jeans doctor". So on the website, it says that if you live in NYC you can mail them to him and he'll do what he can. So that's what I'm doing.

I have to go now. Much to do. I hope everyone has a great day!

Love,
Lauren

Last Night and Hot Water

Ah, last night I was thinking about what I would be writing today, since nothing seemingly interesting happened to me between then and my last post. But, fortunately---this morning proved more interesting than I had hoped for.

First of all, I went to bed early since I got no sleep the night before---and it was great, I totally slept great. I didn't wake up until the alarm. Then I noticed that I was freezing. I had forgotten to turn on the radiator in my room. Wait a minute, I remember why the radiator wasn't on. It's because when I turn it on, at around 5:30am, water starts like hissing and spraying out of the spickot getting my rug all wet. It is totally annoying. For a while I thought that spraying thing only happened when the heat was marginally on, but it turns out it happens eventually everytime I turn it on. So...

I couldn't breathe that well, my nose and throat were like totally stuffed up and my glands felt really swolen. It was horrible. I still can barely swallow. My stomach also really hurts, and not hungry breakfast hurt, but like I ate something just now and it still hurts, hurt. Uh, it's totally not going away.

Believe it or not, that isn't even the worst part of my morning. Since I took the red-eye right into work practically without taking a shower I was excited to get a good sleep and then waking up and washing my dirty hair in a nice hot shower. So I strip and turn the water on, waiting for it to get warm. But nothing is happening. The water isn't getting warm. Fuck! I can't believe this. I walk out of the bathroom naked and see if the kitchen water will get warm. Nope. I frantically throw on clothes, fill a bag with the clothes i'm going to wear to work and walk to the gym. I'm wasting so much time! I have to walk five blocks to the gym just to take a freaking shower? So I get in, take a shower at NYSC, and leave. I'm sure people were like----"um, did anyone else just see that girl come in take a shower and leave?" Then I ran with soaking wet hair to the subway and miraculously made it to work on-time.

Now, my stomach is really starting to hurt. I went downstairs to the cafeteria and got some toast and ginger ale....and nothing is making it feel better. The ginger ale, like made it burn really bad. I feel crappy. My glands are totally hurting too.

**I'm bummed because I just read this article in the NYTimes about how my favorite speed skater Chad Hedrick and this other guy are like feuding, and that it's Chad who is being the like sore loser. I thought he was super hot and amazing. Now I'm mad at him for having bad sportsmanship. What's up with that?**

I'm going to go downstairs to the health center. I feel like poop.

Leave comments people! This is the only way I'm going to get blogfamous!

Lauren

Hiatus and LA

First, I want to apologize for all of you that were worried about me since I didn't post anything for a while. I was in LA on a mini-president's day vacation. It was so fun. I wanted to write about some highlights of the trip.

Amos and Liz are the bomb. I stayed in their apartment in Beverly Hills, which is really pimp. It is totally huge, way bigger than their old place and in a really great location. Also, the weather is great in LA, even though they claimed it was cold, I thought it was a nice change from the frigid NYC weather where I have to wear a hat/scarf, etc. Anway, on with the highlights:

1. at breakfast at the griddle: the best breakfast place ever. Had the apple french toast and it was amazing. The bacon and coffee are also amazing. The waiter that looks like Ryan from the OC was there again.

2. went to MOCA and got in free---thank you corporate america. saw this cool comic book exhibit.

3. shopped at Fred Segal: bought the most amazing hoodie ever and paid the most outrageous price ever, but totally worth it. you will sweat my hoodie when you see it. Especially you Beth. :)

4. at at "The Counter" this like customized burger place with amazing shakes and fries. We literally stuffed our faces b/c it had been all day since our last meal at the griddle

5. Went to the Groundlings: the most amazing and hilarious comedy club ever. Sat night was particularly hilarious and funny on part by the sketched by the women, you know the cook from Gilmore girls? Well---she is a hysterical comedian. Just hilarious. holy cow.

6. Ate crepes at the farmers market at the Grove. I had a crepe with nutella, strawberries and whipped cream. It was orgasmic. Then I was still hungry (cause i'm a pig) and so Amos stopped at Subway to get something for Liz and I ran into Mulberry Street for a slice of pizza. Yes, I am a hog.

7. It was a nice day outside so Amos and I went lawn bowling (read: played Bocce ball) they have these special bocce courts outside right by their apartment and it was so much fun! Although to be honest, my butt was sore from my form in throwing the ball on Monday.

8. I had coffee w/ Michelle Culver, so fun to catch up with her. She's the best.

9. Ate dinner at this Japanese like "grill your own food" place. Amazing. I had beef and chicken and it was so yummy. The grill is right on your table. Then we roasted s'mores for dessert.

10. stayed up and watched Elizabethtown---but turned it off after 20 minutes b/c it was horrid so we eneded up watching the Best of Chris Farley

11. had breakfast/lunch at "Doughboy" so delicious. Except Liz didn't really like her garlic soup, she said it burned her throat and then Amos made me laugh and so i got potato and ketchup up my nose and then spent the next hour trying to blow potato out of my nose. It was horrible.

12. Went to OK and i got the placemats I wanted. We also then went to Arclight to get tickets to Match Point

13. Got cool stationery and the cool expensive place.

14. Watched Match Point and it was horrible. I love ScaJO---but it was freaky and stupid and unpredictable.

15. Ate dinner at Jones pizza place---ate good pizza and also I had a Zack Braff spotting. It was cool. He was eating with some of his non-famous friends.

So friends, that was my trip.

Other interesting things that happened on/related to the trip:
  • some asshole left like melted chocolate on the floor in front of my seat on the flight home---got all over my bag---it was sick.
  • I love my new suitcase
  • there was a hot boy in my row on the way there---He was also on the flight back---but we didn't sit next to each other
  • someone hit Amos when he was coming to pick me up----it was a hit and run and amos thought it would be a good idea to chase the van, instead of calling the cops.
  • I watched a lot of family guy and mythbusters.
  • red eye's stink.

I'm at work now trying to survive. Happy Tuesday!

Love,

Lauren

Shout Outs and Pink Eye

Sorry I didn't post yesterday, I woke up after Valentine's Day fun to my eyes being crusted over due to conjunctivitis. It's funny. It think that you are a person who gets pink eye, or doesn't get pink eye. I unfortunatly, will get pink eye if someone in New Jersey has it. I no doubt got it from the Boys and Girls club that I volunteer at---and did on Monday. So, since it's so highly contagious----I didn't go into work. I used those wonderful drops in both my eyes all day. Gross. One annoying thing is that I felt fine, it was just that I was really contagious and my eyes were nasty. Whatever, I'm better and back at work today.

Before I move on, I have several thanks and shout outs after the premiere of my blog on Tuesday:

Justin: Thanks for giving me the links to the websites for voiceovers. Good luck with your athletic endeavors, you know you have my support.
Beth: Thanks for substantiating my skepticality (is that a word?) regarding how the snow is measured. Apparently it is measured by the Park Rangers in Central Park. Read the email from Beth below:

"Not to cast doubt on a record or on the hard-working people who keep it, but do you know who measures the snow at Central Park? The security guards at the zoo. They read the numbers off a stick set in a flat, tree-ringed clearing near the sea lion pool. Therefore, the words, "According to the National Weather Service, the snowfall in Central Park..." actually mean, "According to the security guards at the Central Park Zoo."

JB: thanks for reading my blog. :)
Jared: I know I'm a dork, but I know you are still going to read my blog anyway cause you are interested. This makes you a dork too. Accept it, it's ok. :)
Jess: I know you read my blog, so thanks for that.
China: Thanks for writing a comment! SO sad VMars wasn't new yesterday. :(

Well, today just took a turn for the worst. People that know what I'm talking about know about my 9-5 situation. I'm not going to provide any details really because that's how people get fired. Anyway, I feel like crying and it's only 10am. Great. I'm the worst sales assistant and can't do anything right! I love that everyday I mess up everything. It's really empowering to hear it all the time. It makes me want to work extra hard and do extra things---. Oh, and did you know that my personal life is more important than my job? Or so I'm told. There are things I've learned:

1. Small things are really not small at all, they are very important and should be taken seriously
2. If you forget something, it is the worst thing you could possibly do
3. If your gut reaction is that something isn't a big deal, you are wrong. It is a big deal.
4. Prioritizing isn't necessary. Everything is the most important thing.
5. You aren't allowed to make mistakes.
6. Don't assume, cause you'll be wrong.

I also lost my credit card yesterday on the street. I'm so organized. Lucily I called and got a new card and nothing extra had been charged onto the card. Phew. I was lucky. Stephanie, I'm sorry I yelled at you on the phone about having my identity stolen and all this stuff charged. I should have been more calm and not yelled at you.

In other news, I have a crush on my chiropractor.

Have a great Thursday, your day is already going better than mine.

Love, Lauren

Valentine's Day

So it's still all snowy and annoying outside. You know, with the record snowfall and everything up here in the city. It didn't look like 26 inches, I think they might have been lying. How do they measure that anyway? Does someone go out to Central Park in the middle of the day and measure with a ruler? How accurate is this number? I'm truly skepctical.

I don't feel like eating lunch today, instead I think I'm going to get something from Jamba Juice. I know I should have some real nourishment, but I don't feel like thinking about what I want to eat and plus, like Jamba juice, so it's not that bad or unhealthy. It's not like I'm eating fried chicken or something. Sheesh.

Tonight Jess and I are going to some fun place in the Village. We were going to go to this lock and key party, which subsequently I told everyone about prematurely but then Jess found out that it was like all swanky and bourgie, and I wasn't down with that. If you know me, which you probably do if you are reading this blog----you know i'm not bourgie. I mean, I like Williams Sonoma and all, but I'm not like that. So, we are going for a more chill atmosphere, which hopefully won't produce stuffy boys like that other place would have. Although I did like the idea of getting a lock and hoping that some hottie's key would fit into it. Alexi told me this morning in an email that she thought I should try and shove and force a key into my lock if the guy was really hot. I laughed. It was a very funny thing to say.

I'm in the process of filling out some paperwork that needs to be filed with the SEC. It's easy but there is one box that I don't know how to fill out and I'm frustrated b/c I really want to mail it out now so it gets off my cluttered desk and so I can start to move onto other things. I'm sure you don't care about that either.

I'm wearing my red glasses today, I'd like to say that it was becuase of Valentine's Day and that I'm trying to show Valentine "spirit" but really it's just because I woke up late and didn't have the time to shove my contacts into my eyes.

I'm going to LA this weekend to visit Amos and Liz. They just sort of recently moved into a new place and I'm excited to see it and hang out with them and do fun things and also be in perfect weather. It's supposed to be like 65-70 this weekend. Whooooooo-hoooooo.

So I'm trying this new thing where I actually capitalize the "i's" I write, you know, when I'm writing in first person. It's hard cause usually I don't. But I think it will get me in good habits. Plus, it's not like I stopped using contractions or anything. I still have that wit about

JM just got flowers. Why? How is this possible? I want flowers. How come SHE gets flowers. This is so unfair. SO unfair. Poop on flowers.

Happy Valentine's Day everyone!

xoxoxox,
Lauren
