Christmas and End of Year Stuff

So, I'm going to try and post today. This week has been good so far. I had a fantastic Christmas with my family in Maryland. Literally, one of the best ever. We just relaxed, played (with my nephews of course) and ate a BUNCH. It was a bit insane actually. My mom every two seconds would ask us if we wanted something else to eat. I'm sure I gained a bunch of weight. But, like most other Americans I'm going to try and exercise more in 2007 and eat better.

I'm going to run the NYC marathon in November of this year. I'm very boosted about this. I signed up for my first race for 2007 in February, just a little 4 miler, but I have to seriously start thinking about my training schedule for this thing!

I bought my little nephew Berk a medical kit for Christmas and we played hospital for like hours. It was hilarious. It came with this little cell phone and beeper that he would like clip on his pants and stuff and wait for my "calls". I was the secretary and his brothers rotated being the patients and being sick with different things. We gave my oldest nephew Scott heart surgery with a plastic scalpel. We also played hide and seek outside. I made them all hide in this like ravine that was so sketchy and gross, but Alp couldn't find us so it was perfect.

It was really annoying b/c when we went to put up the Christmas tree, we realized the the white lights that we put on had one string that was burned out. Cem and I went out and bought multi-colored lights. Both Stephanie and I hate multi-colored lights, but we had to suck it up this year. We decorated the tree and basically hung out/played for the rest of the day. It was QUALITY.

Yes, so Christmas was great. :)

I came back to NYC for New Years after the Corporation Meeting and hanging out with Jake for a bit. It was cool to see him again and catch up and all. I made pimpking cookies and we straight chilled. Tessa had a party up here and it was a blast. I did way too many Jello shots and I think I kissed like every boy at midnight. Not like hard core kissing, don't get any ideas, but a friendly peck on the lips for everyone is my motto. My friend Timmy went around to every girl and grabbed our heads and kept saying "lips only, lips only!" Hysterical. I pretty much spent the next day wallowing on the couch at Tessa's place. We managed to rally and head out to a diner and then we came back, cuddled on the couch and watched "Don't Tell Mom the Babysitters Dead". It was fantastic.

2007=good year.

Oh, quick anecdote. I couldn't get a cab down to Tessas that night so I had to get into a town car or whatever. The guy was so weird that was driving. He was giving me my fortune and stuff and telling me all about the upcoming year. He said some really freaky things. Like that I was really lucky and that I would have to choose a man this year. ?? Yeah, that it what I thought too.

Ok. must go!

Cheers and Happy New Year!

Lauren

Birthday and Xmas

I know I hate when people lump these together, but I am for today.

Happy 24th Birthday to me! I'm having a good day so far. Partially b/c it's my bday and partially b/c I'm going to see all my friends tonight at my party! If you are going to be in DC tonight and are in/around the area-----call me and we'll hang out! Whooop!

This will be a short post. I'm sorry. I essentially took a holiday from posting. It's been a stressful month on so many levels. I can't wait to recount the tails but it will have to be next week.

Coming up soon:
1. Thanksgiving re-cap (I realize this is disgraceful)
2. Parents weekend
3. Boys
4. 2006 in review list.
5. more simplylauren that you are going to know what to do with---tons of retroactive posts that were started but never finished and also my cynical wit that keeps you coming back for more. :)

Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, Happy Kwanzaa, Happy Festivus, and that indian holiday---there is one right?

Happy Holidays everyone!

Love,
Lauren

James and WilliamsSonoma

James came and visited this weekend.

The Segway is the most asinine invention ever. Can you believe people still actualy ride them in public? When I see people/cops on this. I want to push them off them and hope that they tumble onto the cement.

I am not in a negative mood but I have to say I promise I'll finish my Thanksgiving entry soon. I'm just really busy at work and don't have a lot of down time to write things. Plus I think that the holiday's have sucked the creative and funny juices from my brain, those which normally enable me to write entries.

On Saturday night, I think I could have had a lesbian encounter. There was this girl Diana who is in the Young Vikings, yes, I know this is corny. We exchanged numbers, she also lives in my neighborhood too. Anyway, she called me on Saturday night asking if I wanted to come over and relax b/c she popped open a bottle of wine....yikes. :)

As many of you know, I'm very obsessed with cooking things and household items.

Here is a list of things that even I don't need:

1. horseradish grater: they comment that "grating horseradish can be a tricky task". My thought would be that one should just BUY HORSERADISH ALREADY GRATED

2. Le Creuset cookware: Ok---this stuff is amazing. I def want this at some point, but it's like up the butt expensive. I wish that I could get this though I absolutely don't need it right now.

3. Cephalon Pepper Roaster: I don't like roasted peppers particularly, so I don't think that I would actually want this item.

4. de Buyer V-professionnelle mandoline: this machine chops vegetables in special ways, julienne, thin slicing, and waffle cut (this is actually cool)

5. Snowman Cake Pan: I want this but I definately don't need it.

6. Personal Embossed & Stand: I would be beyond bourgie if I owned such a thing.

This entry blows considering it's taken me practically a week to write it. I'm sorry. The holiday's are really screwing with me.

Love,
Lauren
