Working Out and Bludgeoning

So, trying not to stress out about the lack of postings I'm going to slowly regain my momentum in blogging. Seriously though people, the no postings have really been stressing me out and causing me lack of sleep. Well not really the sleep part but you get my drift.

I'm totally starting a new workout routine. Since I pretty much never go to the gym. And by never I mean never---I was seriously thinking about cancelling my membership. I have a hard time doing this b/c it's like---maybe one day I'll wake up and want to go to the gym but then I can't go b/c I'm not a member anymore. Seeing as this has not yet happened in the past six months, I don't consider it an emminent threat to me cancelling. I was going to quit and then join Asphalt Green, this really nice swimming complex not to far from mi casa. However, the cost of the god forsaken pool ONLY, not even including the gym, is like more than my gym membership. For those of you that are wondering, yes there is a pool at NYSC, but it's not regulation size so i get really dizzy doing so many flip turns and everything. I'm not 100% opposed to the small pool but it would have been nice to swim in a real life olympic sized/at the very least, a 25 yd. pool. *sigh*. I'm keeping my gym membership. Also----I'm starting a new endeavor. if by new I mean rekindled. I'm going to start doing gymnastics again. I'm not going to start with floor b/c we all remember what happened when I tried to move the next day---right, I couldn't. So, instead I'm going to take the aparatus class on Wednesday nights, where I can work on bars. I bought grips and I'm so ready to be jacked. This isn't just another Lauren pipe dream. I'm actually going to stick to this. I forked out 35 bucks for the grips so you better believe I'm going to be using them. Also, I figure that I can take the tumbling class whenever I want if I decide to do so. I think that it will be good. I also know that I can re-learn a lot of the skills that I was doing when I quit gymnastics those 12 years ago. So. very exciting for me.

I told Charlie that he would make the blog this week and I'm not going to let him down on my promise. For a fact though, he doesn't even read this thing. This is a testament to how much I love you anyway Charlie. So---this story is not for the faint hearted. Whatever that means. It's about Charlie assasinating a rat that lived in his house on Capitol Hill. First things first: in my little mind, I've always associated mice for living inside and rats for living outside. This incident clearly shattered my world view of these vermin. Charlie had rats INSIDE. Gross right? Well---he and his housemates decided they needed to do something about it and so they set traps. Rate snap traps are REALLy huge compared to the little mice ones that I use in my apt. Charlie had set it up perpendicular to the cabinets on the floor. So much so that when the trap snapped down, it would clip the side of the cabinet. He obviously didn't realize this until.....

He was upstairs and heard the trap snap. He came downstairs and saw all this blood, and also this rat. The rat was stunned, but he was laying down. Charlie knew that he wasn't dead though. All of a sudden, the rat got up and looked him. Charlie didn't know what to do! He did the first thing he thought of. He went into the closet, grabbed the vacuum attachment that is that metal pole thing and bludgeoned the rat to death. Yes, Charlie murdered a rat in his kitchen. Blood spraying all over and Charlie looks like he just had a blood bath. It's a miracle he didn't contract some infectious disease.*

So---I thought my vermin killing expeditions were exciting. That takes the cake C-Diddy.

SAIL: This program was a success. It was a crazy busy say on Saturday but so many kids came and the schedule worked out really well. I, however was so exhausted after the whole thing was over b/c I had stayed up so late on Friday night getting ready with Ron. Ron, thanks for punching all those buttons for me. They looked great. Yay! SAIL is over.

The WCM was also really productive. Jackie and I got a lot of really good ideas from our staff and I'm very excited about working everything out with her. All the directors have a call on Thursday evening to discuss the summer and the schedule and get everything hammered out. I can't believe that we are starting everything already. So exciting!

Today is going alright. I got a lot of work done this morning and I'm feeling relatively productive, hence the new blogging expedition. I feel likt 2007 is going to be a great year. Don't you?

Tonight is Game Night at 238. We are playing Apples to Apples I think. Game Night is a new tradition coveted by the members of 238 and Lago, Karen, me and Bethy. We order/cook food and drink alcoholic beverages and then play some game. Last week we played pop-culture trivial pursuit and I was horribld at it. Beth, shockingly, was excellent. It's going to be great!

Please leave comments about possible future entries, etc. I'm going to be more a readers blogger from now on. Disregard previous statment. I don't even know what it really means.

Have a fantastic Tuesday!

Love,
Lauren

even though you asked for comments then proceeded to say you are going to disregard them, here goes. i'm glad you're going to post again, but i noticed an alarmingly high number of misspellings or typos in your blog recently (or today). fix it.

Ouch, Mike is critical. I'm glad you are posting again, I enjoying reading what is going through your mind. Cool to see SAIL is still going. Send me some pics if you have them... I miss teaching. Ciao - Derwood
